Angus Academy Orientation Program

Every member of the ACML team participates in a three-part orientation program.  Part One will start on the first day of employment and includes Health and Safety training, through the Angus Academy.  Part Two of the training program concentrates on job-specific orientation and Part Three consists of continuous, quarterly, company-specific training modules.  

Beyond the orientation program, employees benefit from training, continuing education, coaching and mentorship aimed at developing the skills that lead to continuous improvement and career growth.

Part 1 – Health, Safety & Hazard Recognition Training

To ensure each employee begins work with the confidence that they can perform their duties in a safe manner ACML provides all staff with appropriate and timely training prior to beginning work at a client’s site. 

Staff are trained on required items such as:

  • Security & emergency procedures
  • Occupational health and safety awareness
  • Harassment and violence in the workplace
  • Workplace Hazardous Material Information System & hazard awareness
  • Accessibility for persons with disabilities

A thorough orientation process is only the initiation into the “Safety First” culture for our employees and will continue throughout their tenure.  Our site staff liaise with our clients’ Safety Officers, and additional safety personnel, to coordinate on-site efforts and duties such as daily and weekly safety meetings, team safety huddles and proper communication of safety information to all team members.

Part 2 – Client Site Orientation

To ensure we provide the technical “know how” to perform jobs safely and successfully, each employee receives training on their everyday job duties, including ACML Policies & Procedures and site-specific training such as:

  • Site orientation
  • Job duties and responsibilities
  • Job hazard assessments
  • Site operating documentation
  • Client-specific procurement and subcontractor procedures

Part 3 – Continuous Training

Every employee receives continuous company training.  The Angus Academy’s robust 40+ module training platform utilizes interactive online tools, lunch and learns and hands-on seminars.  In-class & online training programs include:
